Mel was one of those people you meet that truly leaves a lasting impact! When I've spoken to others about her, I've often described her as being "my biggest fan", and I'm honestly not surprised she made so many others feel the same. I had a one to one meeting planned with her one day and had messaged to apologise about the fact I didn't have any childcare and wouldn't be able to attend. She replied with "Bring him along, I'd love to meet him!!" I'll never forget the impact of her kind words during that meeting and there after. During a pretty dark time in my life she supported my university journey with compassion and encouragement, but also supported my journey as a single mum: struggling with her mental health and trying to do best by her son. I wish I'd expressed how much your kindness meant at the time Mel. You were more than just a university lecturer, I'm truly grateful our lifes crossed paths x
